Glassboro sits on the New Jersey Coastal Plain, so there is no rock to drill through. Under your yard is a wedge of loose gravel, sand, silt and clay that tilts down toward the southeast. USGS work centered on Glassboro names the layers. The Cohansey Sand sits on top, medium to coarse sand with gravel and clay beds. Under it is the Grenloch Sand of the Kirkwood Formation. Around here those layers are connected and act as one water table aquifer. Below them the Alloway Clay forms a solid seal. That clay is the floor of the shallow water we drill into.
The water table across this area averages about fifteen feet below the surface. That shallow sand takes in whatever soaks down from above. USGS testing across the Glassboro area found nitrate above background levels in domestic wells. That held in farm areas and in built up ones. South Jersey well water also runs acidic and often carries iron. None of that means a bad well. It means the water needs a test, and treatment picked to match. We pull a sample before we call a job finished, then size the neutralizer or filter from the result.
It depends on which side of the water main the house sits. Inside the borough most homes are on Glassboro water, and the well calls are different.
